Founded in 1981, the Mountain Brook Art Association of Mountain Brook, Alabama, strives to stimulate art in the community, encourage individual and group development and sponsor an annual art show.
Membership is open to persons residing within a 25 mile radius of Mountain Brook City Hall. Also of note is that our annual spring show in Crestline Village is limited to two-dimensional painting and drawing.
MBAA holds quarterly meetings in January, March, July and October along with additional evening meetings that have a social or group critique emphasis. Members have an opportunity to hear from a guest speaker or see a demonstration by a well-known artist at most meetings. The membership directory is updated and distributed in March and quarterly newsletters are sent via email (or via USPS if requested). Members are expected to be familiar with and uphold the MBAA Constitution and Bylaws found in the directory and to attend association meetings regularly. Annual membership dues are set at $35 and are payable in January. Click here for membership form. Active members who renew after Feb. 1 pay a $5 late fee ($40). New members who join after the July meeting pay prorated dues of $20.
The annual Spring Art Show is traditionally held in April on the athletic field at Crestline Elementary School. Original two-dimensional art on canvas, board, paper or flat wood are acceptable mediums for this show. Publication of the show guidelines and registration occurs in January. Members are required to attend at least one meeting during the 12 months prior to the show to be eligible to participate in the show.
